We all love London in the Summer but let’s be honest, design lovers can’t wait for September to come. It’s not due to the sunny weather or the holidays – actually we love that time of year . Instead, it’s all about the London Design Festival which takes place in the city from 19-27 September this year.
Held to celebrate and promote the city as the design capital of the world, the London Design Festival is the place to be if you are looking for the latest design trends or just a good dose of inspiration! Find out more about this year’s highlights and in the mean time enjoy the rest of the summer.
London Design Festival Destinations
At London Design Festival there’s a show for everyone! Six major shows will take place across the city where you can find new and established worldwide exhibitors showcasing the best that design has to offer. This year 100% Design will celebrate its 21st edition in a brand new home, Olympia London. Decorex International will explore the future of luxury through a series of interactive feature installations. And Designjunction will be held at two stunning new locations, former Central Saint Martin’s college and nearby Victoria House – just to name some of this year’s novelties.

London Design Festival at the V&A
The relationship between the V&A and the London Design Festival began in 2009 and since then never stopped to grow stronger. This year’s programme will showcase once again an extraordinary range of design installations interacting with world-renowned collections and historic spots. From Frida Escobedo installation in the V&A’s John Madejski Garden to a colourful installation by designers Laetitia de Allegri and Matteo Fogale on the bridge over the Medieval and Renaissance galleries, this is the right place for everyone looking for creativity. The V&A Artists in Residence, The V&A Talks and the Global Design Forum are also worth paying a visit on this London Design Festival edition.
London Design Festival at Somerset House
Here’s some exciting news for this year’s edition. The renowned Sommerset House is now a major new destination for the London Design Festival, showcasing a series of exciting exhibitions, installation and events during the Festival. Architect David Adjaye is collaborating with MINI to create an installation in the courtyard that will reflect Adjaye’s unique vision and imagination. In the West Wing Galleries you can also find the work of ten internationally renowned designers.
The Design Districts
This year there will be seven Design Districts spread across the city during the London Design Festival. Bankside is the most recent one, launched this year as the new creative hub. From Borough Market to the Oxo Tower you can find many events and activities such as workshops, walking tours, exhibitions and outdoor installations. Apart from the new Design District, Brompton Design District, Chelsea Design Quarter, Clerkenwell Design Quarter, Islington Design District, Queen’s Park Design District and Shoreditch Design Triangle are also unmissable spots on this 2015 edition.
